We Are Family: Double Trouble

11/9/2011 5:19 PM

CHG is sometimes referred to as a "big, happy family." For some employees, however, that phrase rings very true -- they work each day with their family, whether it be a spouse, sibling, son, daughter, mother or father. Get to know our real-life CHG families in this series of weekly stories, We Are Family!

We Are Family: Double Trouble

They may be all grown up now, but Michelle Genna and Brett Miller still retain some of their old sibling rivalry -- albeit an affable one -- especially as they now work together in the Salt Lake office.

"My brother and I have always been friendly rivals. We’ve always tried to outdo each other ever since we were kids," Michelle says. "But we find common ground in our shared love of automobiles (especially German automobiles), and we love to discuss and quote episodes of Top Gear. When not discussing cars, we’re usually mocking each other, our family members or quoting lines from movies or TV shows."

Michelle, who currently works as a senior CompHealth brand manager and started at CHG three-and-a-half years ago, knew Brett would like working at the company and referred him when he was looking to relocate from California to Utah in late 2010.

"Knowing how particular Michelle is about a company’s environment and, most importantly, job satisfaction, I knew she liked it here. She would often speak highly of her position and what a great place CHG was," Brett, shares. "During Thanksgiving break of 2010, I met the great management staff of the CompHealth permanent placement primary care team and shortly thereafter received an offer from CHG. I made the decision to accept the offer and make the jump to SLC."

Michelle enjoys working for a winning company and appreciates CHG's emphasis on continuous improvement, while Brett, a search consultant on the CompHealth permanent placement primary care team, likes the culture CHG leaders have grown through years of experience in a challenging industry.

"The people here are what make this company so unique and driven to succeed. I also like knowing that the doctors we place make an impact in their new communities to improve the lives of others," Brett expresses, "and all of the food that is continuously flowing here!"

"He eats a lot," Michelle interjects. "I mean, A LOT."

Fortunately, both siblings like to eat and enjoy having a "default lunch date," as Michelle puts it. There's also no 'haven't-seen-you-in-years' small talk at family gatherings, the threat of sharing embarrassing stories with co-workers, the knowledge that someone gets your sense of humor and a ride to the dealership when your car is being serviced, she says. Brett and Michelle get to share company events and promotions as well.

"Michelle had the extremely rare opportunity to sit next to The Most Interesting Man In The World [CEO Mike Weinholtz] in a video earlier this year but forgot to get his autograph to show our family," Brett shares.

Michelle shrugs her brush with fame off.

"He’s just jealous that my CHG film resume now includes 'President’s Club Groupie,'" she says.

Yeah what he said! …. Seriously – it’s nice to see Brett through his sister’s eyes. He’s always so hush-hush around here. He’s a pretty private guy. Now we know how to bribe him….
Chad S. says:
Das ist eine tolle story! Ich arbeite wirklich gern mit Michelle. CHG ist ein besserer Ort wirklich ungern von ihr.
Michelle Genna says:
Note to self, parents still enjoy embarassing their “kids.”
Mike Miller says:
The article forgot to mention that they also compete with their entrepreneur father who also likes German cars but beats both of them because he also speaks German so he can say “vow, vhat a gut fast car”…in German. Good work “kids.” Dad
