My CHG Story: Mike Freeman

2/20/2012 11:03 AM

In this series, My CHG Story, we highlight employees and their unique experiences at CHG.

Mike Freeman, an operations manager at CompHealth allied health staffing in Salt Lake City, began with a part-time job at CHG 16 years ago and has been with the company ever since. Since then, he has filled his life with many great memories at CHG.

"The culture is what makes my job so enjoyable," Mike says. "It is refreshing to be able to work for a company where you never feel like just a number, but instead, a place most us have called 'our home away from home' for many years. What I love most of all is the people I get to work with every day."

Today, as an operations manager, Mike provides physician assistants and nurse practitioners for travel locum tenens jobs. His favorite part about his job is the chance he has to try to make a difference in the lives of those around him and the opportunity he has to see his team members' successes and progression.

Read Mike's story about growing up with CHG below!

There are so many great memories at CHG. I remember when some people used to have hair or when staff meetings were dubbed “happy hour” for a good reason. Looking back over the past 16 years, I can honestly say I grew up at CHG. I started with the company in 1995; I was 19 years old, entering my second year of college -- I hadn’t even declared a major! Although I was young and had no sales experience, Mark Law and Dave Baldridge decided to roll the dice and offered me a part-time job. It only took me about a week to realize it was not “local tennis” we were selling, but rather “locum tenens.”

Through the tuition reimbursement program, I was able to pay for a good portion of my college tuition. Not to sound like a commercial, but they even had a full-time job for me once I completed my five-year degree. Since then, I have had the opportunity to take on many different roles, from sales to managing five different sales teams throughout the years.

In 2003, I met my wife, Erin, at CHG and we have been married for six years. We have two boys (Jack, age 5, and Alexander, age 21 months) and our third baby is due in July of this year. I never knew that by applying for that part-time job in 1995 it would lead me to my career, meeting my wife and being blessed with two -- soon to be three -- children. My family is my life. Thank you, CHG.

Oh yes, "Baby Freeman," I definitely remember your first job here.  I know you recall how we teased you - a lot!  I can't call you "Baby Freeman" anymore, but am very happy you and Erin are here.
