We Are Family: Father and Son

1/11/2012 10:00 AM

CHG is sometimes referred to as a "big, happy family." For some employees, however, that phrase rings very true -- they work each day with their family, whether it be a spouse, sibling, son, daughter, mother or father. Get to know our real-life CHG families in this series of weekly stories, We Are Family!

We Are Family: Father and Son

Steve and Josh Keiser have enjoyed hanging out and riding motorcycles together for years – and, since September 2011, they’ve enjoyed working together in the IT department in Salt Lake City.

“It’s good to see Josh every day,” Steve, senior software engineer, shares. “It’s fun for me to see how good he is at his job. Yeah, I’m a proud dad.”

Steve, who started at CHG in February 2011, says he realized Josh would be a good fit for the IT department and referred him seven months later. He says he enjoys the work and the people most at CHG and notices that everyone he works with enjoys their jobs as well.

Josh, a desktop engineer who currently works on CHG’s help desk team, says he also likes the people he meets in the IT department and throughout the company.

“I enjoy everyone I work with – including my old man,” he jokes.

When Steve and Josh need a break from software and computers, they go out to lunch together, sometimes riding their motorcycles when the weather permits. Josh notes that they fit snack time into the day as well – at least Steve does.

“I usually have some peanuts on my desk,” Josh shares, “and my dad likes to come over a couple times a day to say hi and eat my food.”

Though they’ve only worked together for a few months, Steve is excited to have stories to share with others about working with his son.

“Josh has only been here a short time,” Steve says. “They will come as time passes.”

Travis Jeffs says:
You guys are great to work with. I think it would be fun to work that close with my dad. Not sure about my son though, but then again he is only four now and doesn’t understand the word ‘work.’
