My CHG Story: Renee Cannon

11/10/2011 5:15 PM

In this series, My CHG Story, we highlight employees and their unique experiences at CHG.

Renee Cannon, creative services manager at CHG Healthcare Services in Salt Lake City, Utah, has worked at the company for four-and-a-half years. Her job involves tracking everything from emails and direct mail pieces to websites from the point they enter the creative team's domain until the final product is complete.

"There are many things that I like about my job," Renee shares, "like the great people I work with and the support they give me in doing my job. I like every single person in my department and feel lucky to be associated with them."

Before I started work at CHG, I spent years working in the printing and agency world. The hours that are expected and considered normal are 50 to 70 hours a week. A fairly typical day for me was dropping my son off at daycare or school and going to work, then working through lunch, picking my son up and bringing him to work. I would then order take-out from a nearby restaurant and work until 7, 8 or 9 p.m.

I had a small box of toys, coloring books and handheld games under my desk that he could play with. There were many times that I put him to bed on a couch by my desk. I didn't feel like I could enroll him in any after-school activities because I just couldn't be sure that I could get him to practices or be there for the games.

All that changed when I came to work for CHG. Not only is there a true conviction that your life outside of work matters, but I have had great managers that allowed me to be flexible with my hours so that I could enroll my son in sports and get him to practices and games.I even watch them! It has been such a boon to our relationship and his development as a person. I feel fortunate to work for a company that practices what it preaches. CHG really puts people first.

I love working with Renee. She has an amazing son and she is a great mom. Working at CHG has allowed her to spend more time watching her quarterback play football and supporting his team.

I love the story, and I can say firsthand, your son is a great kid and I love watching what an amazing person he is becoming. Thanks for being part of the CHG team.
