Name: Eric Fillerup

Job Title: Divisional training manager at CompHealth permanent placement in Salt Lake City, Utah

Years with CHG: 4

What is your favorite part about working at CHG? The culture. I really believe the organization tries to put people first. They know that if they treat their employees well they will be happier and more successful salespeople. This shows in both the policies and programs they put in place and the awards CHG has received. As a trainer, I’ve always felt supported by managers and employees alike. We’re an organization that loves to learn and improve.

What one story best describes your experience at CHG? During my new hire training members of the executive team took us to dinner. I still remember seeing the passion they had for the company and what CHG does to bring providers to communities around the country. It helped me understand that what we did was more than a job, it was a way of helping people receive medical care they needed. It’s a passion I’ve learned to share and as a trainer I try to help people see beyond the surface of what we do on a daily basis and understand the impact we have on people’s lives.

If someone asked you what you do, how would you answer them? I help make good salespeople great!

Why did you choose to work at CHG? I was impressed with the organization’s professionalism during the interview process. They asked me to do a presentation for members of the training department and executive management. I felt they took my potential role seriously and that showed me that they cared about both their employees and customers.

What is your favorite event that you have participated in at CHG and why? The United Way weeks. I really love how excited everyone in the organization gets about helping the United Way. We have a solid week of auctions, eating contests, dunk booths and more! It’s fun and ends up generating a lot of money for a great organization.

What is your favorite core value at CHG? Continuous Growth. CHG has made some huge investments in training and development during my four years with the company. They want to have the best consultants in the business because they understand the importance of what they do every day. I love the company’s focus on learning, growing and moving forward. I want to work with an industry leader and with CHG I feel like I’m doing just that.

If you could choose your last meal, what would it be? Freshly baked dinner rolls and asparagus soup to start, a filet mignon (medium-rare, of course) covered in sautéed button mushrooms with a fully loaded baked potato and a side of fresh green beans. To finish off, I’d have bread pudding and a thirty-year-old Scotch. Not that I’ve ever thought about it.

What five things would you take to a deserted island? A solar-powered generator, my iPad (yes, I’m one of those people), a satellite wireless modem for internet service, a set of three machetes and a sharpening stone (I know that’s technically cheating, but they’re a set!), and a magnifying glass. It’s a novel combination of comfort and practicality, if you ask me!

In a movie about your life, who would you choose to star as you? Jon Favreau – He’s the kind of guy you’d like to hang out with and doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously. But he always casts himself in one of the best supporting roles in the movies he directs. I’m not sure what that says about me, but it seems like a good fit.
