As our leaders and even The Two Steves explained during the recent Bigger, Better, Stronger Road Show, CHG Healthcare and CHG Pulse have undergone some changes!

Launched two days before the 2012 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list announcement Jan. 19, the CHG Healthcare and CHG Pulse websites received more than 21,000 page views following the announcement.

CHG ranks #21 on Training magazine’s Training Top 125 list, up 62 spots from last year’s rank of #83! The results were announced Feb. 13 at an awards banquet in Atlanta, Ga. This is the fourth consecutive year that CHG has made the list. The Training Top 125 ranks companies’ excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs.

Teams at CHG donned their best fan gear, brought out the wings and chili and made their predictions at the office Super Bowl parties held Feb. 3! After a nail-biting Super Bowl, the Giants beat the Patriots 21-17. With chili cook-offs, prediction pools, trivia contests and most-spirited contests, the Super Bowl competitions at CHG were only slightly less fierce.

Members of CHG’s marketing department hosted two Utah university students Jan. 25 as part of the American Advertising Federation of Utah’s 2012 Student Shadow Day. Jessie Roberts, studying at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, shadowed corporate communication manager Vanessa Hoy, while Bakir Hamza, studying at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, shadowed search engine marketing manager Darin Gibson.

The results are in: CHG was named no. 9 on Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list on Jan. 19. We jumped 18 spots from last year’s ranking of no. 27, and this is the third consecutive year that CHG has been included in the list. It is also the only Utah-headquartered company to be included.

CHG marketing team holds Road Home drive for the holidays

As part of the CHG marketing team's holiday celebrations, team members contributed items for the Road Home, a nonprofit social agency that helps those who are homeless in Utah to get back on their feet. To encourage friendly competition, marketing employees broke into teams of four and strived to earn the highest number of points by donating various items assigned different point values (i.e., laundry detergent was one point/ounce).

In honor of Movember, an annual mustache-growing contest that raises funds and awareness for men's health, and International Men's Day (Nov. 19), CHG's accounts receivable team held its first mustache day Nov. 18. Team members either showed off the mustaches they had been growing throughout the month or sported fake mustaches to celebrate.

IT department's holds "hands-on" meeting

The IT department in Salt Lake City ensured that their Nov. 17 hands-on meeting really was just that -- they worked together in teams to craft marshmallow catapults by hand. Using wooden craft sticks, dowels and clothespins, masking tape, rulers and rubber bands, team members made catapults strong enough to send marshmallows across the room.

After enjoying an early breakfast at The Gateway Mall in downtown Salt Lake City with other United Way volunteers, 50 CHG employees spent several hours serving at the Lied Boys & Girls Club in Rose Park. While some volunteers painted rooms and hallways in the building, others weeded flowerbeds, pruned shrubs and picked up trash around the club.

Edmond office rocks the boat in the cardboard regatta

In the Edmond Cardboard Boat Regatta in Edmond, Okla., the phrase "whatever floats your boat" means just one thing: cardboard. The FMS Minnow, designed by Foundation Medical Staffing employees Chris Friend and Matt Rice, took third place in the August 27 cardboard regatta and was constructed using only corrugated cardboard, duct tape, contact cement and caulking.

"Easy as pie," you might say if someone challenged you to a pie-eating contest -- until a giant, 12-inch pumpkin pie from Costco was placed in front of you. That's just what happened to the 15 Salt Lake employees who attempted to eat an entire pie in under 10 minutes August 31. Using sporks (or their bare hands), the contestants devoured the pies amidst cheers and support from coworkers and teams who sponsored them.
